Today’s musical selection begins with a couple of new songs by Yaeji along with OHHYUK , the first single from Metronomy ‘s upcoming album , another stunning visual from CL ; and the return of Kasabian with a rather electronic theme. In addition, we will see a live interpretation of the songs Beggin ‘ and MAMMAMIA by Måneskin , and Olivia Rodrigo surrounds herself with flowers while she gives us her traitorous song live. 1. Yaeji + OHHYUK, Year To Year + 29
Yaeji and OHHYUK , founder of Seoul group HYUKOH , hit the studio earlier this year after exchanging song sketches, and the result we hear today in the form of two new singles that were written, recorded and produced by the pair, along with accompanying music videos. The video for Year to Year was directed by DQM, and the video for 29 was directed by Nam Eunuk . “When I felt a bit stuck and stuck with music, Hyuk helped me find the joy of creating again, and this was the first time I collaborated with someone so closely on music,” says Yaeji.
2. Metronomy, It’s Good To Be Back
“I’ve been remembering how it was as a kid sitting in the back seat of my parents’ car and they would play their music and I’d think ‘this is awful’ but there were one or two songs I liked,” says Joseph Mount, of Metronomy in a statement announcing that the group will have a new album called Small World, and that it will arrive next February. “I thought it would be fun to make that kind of album, and this is the song that kids might like. This is the ‘cool’ song.”
3. CL, Let It
CL brings you today the music video for Let It, the most recent cut from her debut album, ALPHA . This is the sixth song from her latest album to receive the video treatment. Posted today, the lovely clip shows CL sitting on top of a massive water tank in the middle of a desert as she sings the track’s tetra to the sky. The clip is also intercut with several shots of CL driving a red sports car through the sandy landscape.
4. Kasabian, ALYGATYR
Kasabian are back today with a new single, their first material since the departure of their former frontman Tom Meighan. The song is called ALYGATYR, and it has more electronic and synthesized elements, which now features guitarist Serge Pizzorno taking over vocal duties. The song sounds a bit more like Muse and Royal Blood, and we can’t wait to hear the rest of what they have in store for this era.
5. Moonshine, Beggin’ + MAMMAMIA
Italian band Måneskin made their American television debut last night with a live appearance on The Jimmy Fallon Show , where they performed their songs Beggin’ and MAMMAMIA. The Italian quartet, who won this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in May with their track Zitti e buoni, have been playing a series of concerts in Europe since COVID restrictions were lifted this summer, including a set as part of the stage. in Paris from the huge Global Citizen Live event last month.
6. Olivia Rodrigo, Traitor
After the year she’s had, Olivia Rodrigo has earned her flowers, bringing hundreds of them to the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! for her rendition of the SOUR cut , Traitor.
