Dwayne Johnson entered a Seven Eleven in Hawaii last Sunday, November 27, willing to “make amends for a mistake from the past.” The actor, better known as The Rock, published the details of this visit on his social networks. In them he explains that, before becoming one of the richest stars in Hollywood, he spent a difficult childhood on the American island. “He didn’t have a penny, so he used to steal a Snickers [American chocolate brand] every day for almost a year, when he was 14, on his way to the gym. The same saleswoman was there every day and she always just turned her head and never caught my attention, ”he explains on his Instagram account.

That is why the actor from the new Jumanji saga emptied the entire shelf of chocolates and went through the cash register, explaining to the employees the reason for his action. Johnson (Hayward, California, 50 years old) paid about 300 dollars in candy (an amount similar to the change in euros): “I have exorcised a few big demons over the years (I still have a few left). I know this sounds really silly, but every time I come home to Hawaii and I drive past 7-11…I always knew I had to go in and take every Snickers bar they had…that it was the right thing to do.”

Johnson, one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood (according to Variety, he was the fifth highest paid performer in 2022 for the 22.5 million he pocketed for Black Adam), took advantage of the visit to take photos with store employees and share with them anecdotes from the past. The Rock shared the images on his Instagram profile, where he has 349 million followers. Until recently he was the person with the most followers on the entire social network (he has just been surpassed by Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 505 million followers). But little at all seems to matter to Johnson being the second. The actor, who rose to fame breaking chairs and hitting his opponents during WWE matches, has become one of the most beloved faces in the film industry and a sure value in platform productions.

Johnson did not have an easy childhood. He and his family were evicted from his Hawaii home in 1987, when he was 14 years old. The family then left the island to settle in a small hotel on the outskirts of Nashville (Tennessee). The return of the actor to his place of origin and the visit to the Seven Eleven in his neighborhood have served to close wounds, as he himself explained. “I have finally exorcised this damned chocolate demon that has gnawed at me for decades,” he wrote on his Facebook. “As a bonus, it was a lot of fun paying for everyone who walked into the 7-11 while he was there. It was the least he could do considering all the shit he used to steal there,” he added.

“We can’t change the past and some of the silly things we may have done, but every once in a while we can add a little redemptive grace note to that situation, and maybe put a big smile on a stranger’s face.” Your message.

His tough-guy pose and 120 kilos of pure muscle contrast with his tender and familiar image. At 50, Johnson is the father of three daughters: Simone, the eldest, is 22 years old and is the result of a relationship with his first wife and childhood sweetheart, Dany Garcia, to whom he was married between 1997 and 2007. After going through A depression, La Roca redirected his life and joined Lauren Hashian, with whom he has had two daughters, Jasmine, five, and little Tiana, four years old.
