What are the best movies on Netflix in 2022?
This year Netflix has released many movies from its own production company that are really worth watching. For me, among the best that have been released this year are the following:
- At home.
- The Adam project.
- The invisible agent.
- Persuasion.
- The bubble.
The Irishman (2019)
If Netflix makes a movie with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, directed by Martin Scorsece, of course you have to see it. It’s three and a half hours of film, but you’re going to enjoy it from start to finish.
The devil at all hours (2020)
If you like Tom Holland and have enjoyed him in other movies, like Spiderman, or you’re a fan of Chris Evans, Robert Patinson, Mia Wasikowska or another long list of great actors, then you’re going to love this movie.
Below Zero (2021)
The first thing you need to know about this film is that it stars Javier Gutiérrez, who does everything he does wonderfully. The second thing is that he’s not going to let you breathe easy until he’s done.
The Hole (2019)
With a simple premise, this Spanish film is going to leave your hair on end. What do you think would happen if you only had two minutes a day to eat? What if you knew that what you see on the table is not just for you? And if it was for more than 100 people? A chilling portrait of human selfishness.
The Invisible Agent (2022)
This film is directed by the Russo brothers, who are behind the screen in some of Marvel’s highest grossing films, such as Avengers: Endgame . On Netflix they have made this action movie, one of the best I’ve seen on the platform, in which thriller, comedy and high-level action scenes are mixed.
Guilty (2021)
If you want a thriller with a surprise ending, look no further. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been left with their mouths open by the end of this tape. Also, Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance is incredible from start to finish.
Munich on the edge of a war (2021)
It’s not quite a war movie, even though it’s about war, and it’s not quite a spy movie, even though secret diplomacy is the key to it all. It is a film halfway between the two genres, where we can enjoy all those conversations prior to World War II, which seek to avoid, or at least postpone, the great conflict that turned out to be inevitable.
In the Tall Grass (2019)
If you like Stephen King’s novels or book adaptations, this is one that you cannot remove from your to-do list. The anguish of being trapped and the stories hidden in this suffocating maze create the perfect tension for lovers of mystery, intrigue and psychological terror.
Wolf Night (2018)
You will love the cast of this film, which transports you directly to the intrigue and mystery of the film, the charged and dark air of the film, its incredible script twists and its story. A mother who climbs the walls, a father who doesn’t know that his son has disappeared while fighting in Iraq and an old retired hunter who decides to go back to the woods to look for the little one. He has everything to be a great movie, and he is.
Rome (2018)
Another Netflix movie that made it to the Oscars. And although it very unfairly did not win the award for best foreign language film, at least Alfonso Cuarón won the Oscar for best director. The work is personal, intense and close.
Persuasion (2022)
This film, based on a Jane Austen play, revisits one of the first romantic comedies ever written. The story, however, is not outdated. It is still as valid as it was in its time, so if you like the genre you are going to really enjoy this work halfway between Bridget Jones’s Diary and The Bridgertons.
Claw (2022)
Although just knowing that Adam Sandler is the one who stars in this story you might think that we are dealing with a comedy, the truth is that it is not. In this case, Sandler manages to put aside his comedic side and manages to immerse yourself in a sports drama, in which two people must collaborate to fulfill his dream in the NBA. Exciting and fun, a good movie to share with the family.
The Boy Who Tamed the Wind (2019)
Empathy, maverick spirit, fight against injustice, admiration. All this is what, in short, you will find in this exciting story about a teenager who sets out to build a turbine to extract water to save his town from drought. And if that’s not enough for you, the story is also based on real ones. You’re going to love it.
Seventeen (2019)
In this film we follow the story of a very special teenager who ends up in a reform school. There he is put in charge of a dog that helps him reconnect with certain parts of himself.
Tick, tick… Boom! (2021)
In this exciting musical we learn the story of Jonathan Larson, the author of Rent , the musical that revolutionized Broadway. But we know him before his great success, which he himself did not get to know. Lin-Manuel Miranda is in charge of the music, and with that should be enough to say that it is a true marvel.
I’m thinking of quitting (2020)
The first time you see this movie, you probably won’t understand anything. But surrender to the experience, let the images, the dialogues and the music of this delirious film take you away. Perhaps in a second viewing you will understand a little more about this film that so many of us are trying to decipher.
The Crystal Girls (2022)
For me, one of the best Spanish movies you can find on Netflix. It explores anguish, fear, the desire to fulfill a dream, but, above all, the strange power of friendships that are forged in difficult moments and, especially, in certain stages of our lives.
Story of a Marriage (2019)
As painful as the end of a relationship, but incredibly sincere and intimate. The dialogues in this film are almost as spectacular as the performance of its leads, which are Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver.
The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020)
Based on real events, in this film we see first-hand the injustice of a war that was fought by US citizens who had nothing to do with the war, institutional racism and bureaucratic silence that was imposed on a society that expected its children will return from Vietnam.
Don’t Look It’s Coming (2021)
During the last few months, people have not stopped talking about this incredible film in which first-class actors and an impeccable production come together. A portrait of our society that will surprise anyone and that will leave you with the bitter aftertaste of knowing that what you are seeing could happen in the real world.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
Nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, The Power of the Dog is one of those films that you cannot miss if you have access to Netflix.
Klaus (2019)
Klaus got us a 2019 Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature. Unfortunately, the Spanish Netflix film did not take the prize. However, this new version of the origin of Christmas is worth seeing. Perfect for a family afternoon.
At Home (2022)
With this film, 100% recommended, you are going to live an audiovisual experience. Its animation manages to lead you between fear, disgust and despair, making it easy for you to empathize with its eccentric protagonists.
I lost my body (2019)
If you like animation, you will love this movie. The drawing and technique used by its artists is more than enough to make it worth seeing, but we are also facing a modern Odyssey in which the protagonist is none other than a lost hand.
The Adam Project (2022)
If you like time travel, eighties style and Ryan Reynolds, this movie has everything you need to enjoy a good day of movies and blankets. My experience with this film has been more than positive, I can even say that it seems to me to be one of the best adventure movies that Netflix has made
Mother/Android (2021)
The anxiety of this pregnant teenager crosses the screen to reach the viewer in a moment of absolute crisis. A baby on the way, a father too young, and a world where no one is safe.
The Wasteland (2021)
Both the incredible performance of its protagonists, Inma Cuesta and Asier Flores, and the oppressive atmosphere that the director manages to create are key for this film to absorb you as it does. You will feel identified at all times with the anguish felt by the characters.
The Bubble (2022)
If you’re looking for a comedy with Hollywood stars and more than one hilarious moment, this is a good choice. The director is the mind behind movies like the 40-year-old Virgin or My Best Friend’s Wedding , although I must warn you that it’s not as funny as these two great comedies.
Okja (2017)
A few years ago this movie was on everyone’s lips. This is a film that lets you take a look at what happens inside a slaughterhouse, and that left more than one person wanting to go vegan.
Black Crab (2022)
The film more than fulfills what they promise us from its trailer. It easily absorbs you into a complex and apocalyptic universe, while it teaches you the hardships that its protagonists must go through to accomplish this mission that is practically suicide. The ending may fall off a bit, but everything we’re given from the get-go makes it worth it.
