Anne Igartiburu presented her latest book on November 26, ‘Life begins every day’, and in a statement to ‘Europa Press’, she assured that she still did not know if she was going to give the bells this year: “Well, I don’t know, I I imagine they will tell us at the end of November. If you count on me, I’m happy and delighted, but I’ve been here for almost 20 years, huh? That’s a lot of years and, if there’s someone else, I’ll see it from home,” he said.
The Basque communicator seemed satisfied with any decision that RTVE took. “Whatever will be fine, we’ll see. I can’t say anything because I don’t know,” she concluded.
Perhaps she was a bit evasive because she already suspected that she would be replaced, because less than two weeks later, when there are barely 23 days left until New Year’s Eve, it has been known that, for the first time in 17 years, the presenter of ‘Corazon’ will not give the bells to say goodbye to 2022 and receive 2023 from Madrid’s Plaza del Sol. RTVE has decided to do without Igartiburu on this occasion and instead has signed Ana Obregon – who last year had to resign at the last moment when she tested positive for covid and she was replaced by the climatologist Jacob Petrus- and the humorist duo Los Morancos. However, after the surprise that this unexpected change of television course has brought about for the last night of the year, it should be noted that The presenter has a long and extensive professional career behind her that goes beyond the bells.
His first job was in a small engineering company in Mondragon, but he quickly realized that communication was his thing and not numbers.
He started little by little and enrolled in Dramatic Art at the University of the Basque Country. At first she collaborated with Arraste Telebista, Mondragon’s local television, until in 1993 she was hired by ETB. For several years she combined her facet as a presenter in a children’s program and interviewing personalities from Basque politics and cultural life, with that of an actress in series such as ‘My family and other animals’.
It didn’t take long for me to rise in Euskal Telebista, the Basque regional channel, where I presented ‘Boulevard’. Soon after, her name began to sound in 1995, when she was signed by Tele 5 to present the contests ‘A star is born’ and ‘ A happy couple’, together with Antonio Hidalgo.
Two years later, in 1997, he became the new signing of ‘ Corazon de Verano’, a tabloid space, seasonal, but which ended up adapting its format to all times of the year, and which it presented until 2012.
However, it was not his only job in the public chain. Since he presented the magacin of La 2 ‘El imperdible’; ‘Look who is dancing!’; ‘+Gente’ and she became the usual face of the galas in which the Eurovision song is chosen. In addition, since 2005 she has continuously broadcast the New Year’s Eve chimes for TVE.
Igartiburu starred on the cover of ‘Interviu’ in 2002, and after living well-known romances with such well-known men as the businessman Alberto Cortina and the former basketball player Antonio Martin, she got engaged to the dancer Igor Yebra, a childhood friend with whom she He married on September 10, 2004, but a year and a half later the couple decided to end their love story. They were not even joined by Noa, the Indian girl whose adoption procedures she began when she was single.
Already separated, the Basque began dating Alvaro Fuster, but the relationship ended in 2007. A year later, she had an affair with the bullfighter Israel Lancho, although her courtship with the businessman Daniel Alcaraz was longer, which lasted until the 2012, the year in which he received the Ondas Award. A few months later, she adopted her second daughter, Carmen, born in Vietnam in 2011.
Her passion for classical music led her to interview the conductor Pablo Heras-Casado. It was love at first sight and the couple began their courtship in 2014. After a very discreet relationship marked by distance -due to the musician’s multiple work commitments- the couple welcomed their common son, Nicolas, in June 2016. A year later, in September 2017, Igartiburu and Heras-Casado said ‘yes, I want’, in the most absolute privacy. However, four years later, the couple decided to go their separate ways and signed their divorce in February 2021. Since then, the presenter has been focused on her three children and her work.
Last July, RTVE withdrew the broadcast of the program ‘Corazon’ (from Monday to Friday), but it still maintains its weekend format, on Saturdays and Sundays.
This classic format had been on the air since July 1997, but the public chain then announced the premiere of a new program, ‘Hablando claro’, which occupies the space that belonged to the mythical current affairs program of the tabloids. Despite the cancellation of the daily version of the program, Igartiburu continues to lead “Corazon” on weekends. From this moment on, his future began to falter in the public entity.
Igartiburu sees how his figure on TVE is weakening. In fact, his screen time has decreased considerably throughout this season. After canceling the daily broadcast of ‘Corazon’, the communicator has had no choice but to look for opportunities in other channels, signing up for Telemadrid to host the space ’10 moments’, and has become the surprise signing of ‘Your face sounds to me ‘, where he will compete in the tenth edition of the Atresmedia format.
It will not be the first time that the journalist has participated in a maximum audience program of the competition. She previously participated in the ‘Mask Singer’ contest, although on that occasion her face had a specific appearance in which she took off her costume and revealed her identity.
