After seeing how we lived at the dawn of the 2000s and which consoles were the ones that split the cod, now we review the 10 games that took the best scores in Hobby Consoles in the years 2002 and 2003, with special mention for GameCube and its great exclusive.
We celebrate 30 years of Hobby Consoles
Hobby Consolas turns 30 with an exciting journey from its origins as the best-selling video game magazine, to its exciting present as the number one video game website.
1.Metroid Prime
Nintendo • GameCube • 2003 • Hobby Consolas nº 138 • Note: 97
After more than 15 years of making us enjoy in 2D, the Metroid saga jumped into three dimensions in a sublime way. Never before have we felt so “inside” the great Samus Aran! Everything, thanks to the fact that Miyamoto urged Retro Studios to change his point of view.
It took Samus Aran more than eight years to return to a console, after the riot of action and exploration of the sensational Super Metroid for SNES. But the wait was worth it. It was a risky move to change the perspective of the series, but it worked masterfully. For the first time, we experience the action from inside Samus’s helmet.
2.Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Konami • PlayStation 2 • 2002 • Hobby Consolas nº 126 • Note: 96
After the revolution that Metal Gear Solid brought to PlaySyatation, the expectation to see the new game in the saga on PS2 was high. Luckily, the project was run, once again, by the great Hideo Kojima, who managed to surprise us again with a real great game.
Solid Snake was released on PlayStation 2 in a big way. On this occasion, the legendary warrior was not alone and shared the stage with Raiden, a young and much less experienced soldier who starred in much of the adventure, much to the annoyance of some.
3.Final Fantasy X
Squaresoft • PlayStation 2 • 2001 • Hobby Consolas nº 129 • Nota: 96
Role-playing games “leveled up” with the arrival of the first installment of the Final Fantasy saga on PlayStation 2, which displayed its great power to give us the most spectacular RPG to date.
Defeating Sinh while touring the world of Spira was our main objective in the most ambitious Final Fantasy created up to that time. With an overwhelming technical section, in which the expressiveness of the faces of Tidus and company stood out, as well as the beauty of the settings and effects.
4.The Legend of Zelda: A link to the Past GBA
Nintendo • Game Boy Advance • 2003 • Hobby Consoles nº 139 • Note: 96
Ten years after this cult game was released on the Super NES, Nintendo brought it back for the Game Boy Advance, also adding the Four Swords mode, which allowed four players to cooperate or compete.
Nintendo’s new portable, Game Boy Advance, traveled back in time to recover one of the best installments of The Legend of Zelda saga and one of the best games in the Super Nintendo catalogue.
5.Virtual Tennis 2
Sega • Dreamcast • 2002 • Hobby Consolas nº 124 • Note: 96
Playing tennis on a console has never been as fun and spectacular as with the arrival of Virtua Tennis on the Dreamcast courts and this sequel (which would arrive years later on PS2 under the Acclaim label) managed to improve everything we saw in the first .
6.Super Mario Sunshine
Nintendo • GameCube • 2002 • Hobby Consolas nº 133 • Note: 95
It was one of the games most anticipated by GameCube users, and, as always, Mario did not disappoint and marked a game that was as innovative as it was refreshing, although, undeservedly, it did not go as deep as other adventures of the plumber.
After marveling on the N64, Mario’s next 3D adventure was released on the GameCube, serving both to reaffirm just how good the plumber was at three dimensions and to show that the big N’s shiny new purple machine had massive power.
7.Splinter Cell
Ubisoft • Xbox • 2002 • Hobby Consolas nº 136 • Note: 95
Samuel Leo Fisher is the full name of the protagonist agent, a veteran member of the National Security Agency (NSA) who was chosen by Ubisoft to face Solid Snake.
The shadow of Metal Gear was very long at the time, but Ubisoft managed to infiltrate a new agent, Sam Fisher, and stand up to the hero of Shadow Moses with a spectacular action and espionage game. Equipped with a large number of “gadgets” and weapons,It was up to Fisher’s skills to take down a terrorist threat capable of putting the entire world in check, a mission for which it was essential to be as stealthy as a ghost.
8.The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Nintendo • GameCube • 2003 • Hobby Consolas nº 139 • Note: 95
Link sailed into the rich waters of the GameCube to gift us with an epic and unforgettable adventure. With the wind in favor and full sail.
This is how Link docked at the 128-bit port in his first adventure for the GameCube. With an unprecedented graphic section in the saga, and that emulated animated films, the proposal for this new installment of Zelda captivated us without remedy thanks to its brilliant setting and exciting plot, and its hilarious game system, which took what best of the classics and added some successful new elements.
