Arctic Monkeys, Stromae, Rosalía and Arcade Fire are some of the artists who will launch their new projects in the coming months

Music never stops growing, reinventing itself and expanding, and for this reason each year a date is set for the most anticipated releases. In 2021 we have witnessed great successes such as “30”, by Adele, “Sour”, by Olivia Rodrigo, “When you bite your lip”, by Leiva, “No, it doesn’t come back” , by Dani Martín, or “Voyage”, by ABBA. Now, a new year begins with a few months full of musical expectations, including names like Arctic Monkeys, The Cure, Rosalía or Alt-J. Among a long list, the following could be the most anticipated albums of 2022 that, although some have not specified their title or release date, everything indicates that they will be released in a short time.

1. Stromae

The Belgian artist surprised his followers at the end of 2021 by announcing that, since he retired in 2016 to “take a break”, he was returning to the music scene. The singer of hits like “Alors on danse”, “Papaoutai” or “Tous le mêmes” returned with the release of “Santé”, a single that was preceded by the recent release of “L’enfer”. Two songs that will be part of his album “Multitude” and that will be released on March 4, 2022.

2. Rosalia

Since“El mal Querer”, the Catalan artist has been releasing independent songs, collaborations that were also far from the style of her last album and well created expectations about what her new project will be. Now, Rosalía announces “Motomami”, her new album whose exact release date is still unknown and which is already anticipated with “The Fame”, a song with which she has had The Weeknd.

3. Arcade Fire

In an interview, multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Parry claimed that “2022 seems like the target for the band’s big comeback.” The Canadians, four years after “Everything Now”, have material to be released since last year , and everything indicates that it will be released in the coming months. As the band’s leader, William Butler, advanced, in 2020, the band was already working on this new project before the pandemic broke out, which completely paused the making and recording of the album.

4. Arctic Monkeys

It is not the first time that there has been talk of the imminent release of something new by the Arctic Monkeys, but most specialized music magazines suggest that it will arrive in 2022. Although they published their last album in 2018, under the title “Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino”, the next and seventh work of the band is already recorded , although other details are unknown, such as its title.

5. Placebo

“Never let me go”, a continuation of “Loud like love” (2013), will land on the music scene on March 25, 2022. After having unveiled the single “Beautiful James”, which was followed by “Surdered by spies” , Placebo faces a year full of surprises and performances, among which two stand out in our country this summer: they will play at the Mad Cool festival in Madrid and Bilbao BBK Live.

6. The Cure

The iconic band returns with a new project since they released “4:13 Dream” in 2008. Although until now the new album is surrounded by secrets, everything indicates that the great publication will be in 2022, just as Robert Smith even hinted that it could be the group’s last album.

7. Christina Aguilera

That of the pop diva is, perhaps, one of the most anticipated albums. Entitled “The Force”, it will be divided into several installments, as well as featuring several collaborations, as we have already seen in “Pa Mis Niñas”, a song she sings with Nathy Peluso, Becky G and Nicki Nicole. “It’s more challenging than facing an English album, but I’ve done my best to have the best teachers,” Aguilera explained in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

8. Charli XCX

“Crash” will be the next and fifth studio album by Charli XCX, an English singer and songwriter who stands out for having been one of the most active artists during the pandemic. It will be next March 28 when the new album comes out, and it will be the last one that she will release under the record label Atlantic Records.

9. Alt-J

Having already listened to the single “U&ME”, the expectations for Alt-J’s new album are high. This is “The Dream”, the band’s fifth album that will be available on February 11 on digital platforms. A new project that lands four years after the release of “Reduxer”.

10. The Lumineers

The iconic creators of “Ho Hey” are also among those who will launch new projects during 2022. It is “Brightside” and it will be released tomorrow. Although the single, the album’s namesake, has already been released, there will be another eight songs that they will bring to the countries at the concert they will offer at the Wizink Center in Madrid on February 13.
