So you can change your Netflix plan or delete your account if you don’t want to continue with the streaming service

Netflix has proposed to eliminate shared accounts while adding, for November 10, a new Basic plan with Ads. This subscription plan with ads will allow you to watch Netflix at a lower price (€5.49). You can stream high-quality video (up to 720p) to one compatible phone, tablet, computer, or TV at the same time. 

But unlike Netflix’s ad-free plans, ads will be shown before or during most TV shows and movies (between 15 seconds and 30 seconds), and especially some movies and series will not be available due to license restrictions. Downloads are also not included.

However, with the ad-supported plan, you get the Netflix games ad-free, weird right? It seems that Netflix wants to promote this sector, in which it has been working for several months with continuous news.

It is for all this that many consider switching to this plan, although it is possible not from November 10, since the disadvantages are widely clear due to a difference in cost of €2.5 (Basic plan). The problem will come from the intention of the streaming platform to eliminate shared accounts in 2023.

All of us who use them in different houses will be forced to contract the service on our own and, if we are only one, the Basic plan with Ads may experience an increase in subscribers. Although honestly it’s not worth it.

Of course, it is really important, before changing your Netflix plan, to think about the cost and the quality-price ratio of the streaming platform before upgrading it, to know exactly what to expect from the service.

How to switch from one Netflix plan to another: a step-by-step guide

Well, if you have decided to take the plunge and change your Netflix plan, whatever your reason, we leave you a very simple step-by-step guide to carry out this process.

1. Mouse over your profile icon at the top right.

2. Click Account in the dropdown menu. All the features you can customize will appear, including your plan details.

3. Next to Plan Details, click Change Plan. A new page will open showing all available streaming packages: Basic, Standard and Premium (and a future Basic with Ads plan).

4. The plan you currently use will already be selected. Read what the other plans entail, from their video quality to their price . In this case, the Premium service is contracted, which implies up to 4 devices connected at the same time and excellent quality (4K+HDR). 

5. When you know which plan you want, select it and click Continue. This will automatically change your configuration, making a prior confirmation (last photo) and will charge you the corresponding amount on your next billing day. As you can see it is really simple and intuitive.

Can the Netflix plan be changed at any time? What if I am a new subscriber?

Yes, you can change plans whenever you want. But there are a couple of things to remember if you’re trying to change your Netflix plan.

• A plan change is effective immediately. Your billing date will change based on the remaining balance from your last payment.
• A plan reduction to a lower price takes effect on your next billing date. You can continue using the features of the higher plan until your next billing date.

If you are new to Netflix, you can sign up for the plan that best suits your needs:

1. Visit the web.
2. Choose a plan. You can change plans or cancel at any time.
3. The Basic plan with Netflix Ads is not launched until November 10, 2022, so you only have the other three available for the moment (Basic, Standard and Premium).
4. Create an account by entering your email address and creating a password.
5. Enter a payment method and that’s it.

Delete your Netflix account with these simple steps

Finally, if what you have decided is to end your Netflix account, since you are not convinced by this price increase or the new plan, we will teach you how to do it in less than two minutes. Now, if you want it to be removed immediately, you should:

1. Go to the “Help Center” by clicking on your user in the upper right.
2. Next, click on the button at the bottom of the page for “Start live chat”. 
3. Send them a message saying “I want to delete my Netflix account” and then hit send.
4. Once you’ve done this, support should guide you through the process of deleting your account. It shouldn’t take long.
